The Deadeyes release "Collected Recordings"
The Deadeyes, Philadelphia's long-standing violin fueled soulpunk power trio, are finally releasing their long-awaited sophomore effort, "Collected Recordings", available on all major digital platforms. The album includes material culled from work over the past 8 years since their 2014 debut "Demonstrationals and Remixes", entirely remastered and collected together for the first time.
The album is a big return to DIY lo-fi sounds, recorded almost entirely at practice spaces, live performances, and home studios. Included are a few choice covers of "Treatment Bound" by The Replacements, and "Do You Want to Dance" by Bobby Freeman (popularized by the Ramones). Originally planned to be released in the spring of 2020 (uhhhh, yahhh...) the band agonized over every detail to make sure it sounded just right, but not too "perfect".
In addition to the usual suspects, you can also check it out on our bandcamp page as well. Anyway, it's here so crank it up and dig it hard!

Quarantines = Brickfilms
The new video is a frenetic brickfilm animation created by band member Paddy McHugh and his 11 year old son Desmond. Paddy explains, "We were stuck at home involuntarily hibernating through the covid, scratching a mark for each day on the walls and still counting, when I turned to my son and I said, 'Son I've got it! We're gonna make us a video!' It took us about a month altogether, but so we did."
Last Days of Summer Video

The Deadeyes make Dan Reed’s (WXPN) Covid-19 Playlist
Article excerpt from Jennifer Lynn.
What’s on your playlist?
There’s a lot of things. There’s this band in Philly, I guess they’ve been around for a while. They’re called the Deadeyes. And they sent me this song called “Last Days of Summer” that I’m obsessed with. It sort of harkens back, it’s sort of a 90s, you know, indie rock kind of sound. You know, a lot of local Philly bands and people I know have sent me stuff that I really enjoyed. I guess it’s more of a comfort food situation for me right now.

In the meantime, dig on their newest release "Spirit Of Dublin" recorded at The Mind Cabin!
The Deadeyes release a new single - “I Been Working“
The Deadeyes break into the New Year with a new single - “I Been Working” and big plans to conquer the world. Their first stop starts on Wednesday, March 11th at The Khyber performing with local indie pop group Conversations and touring pervy pop group Big Gorgeous.
The group took a break from live performances to focus on finding a unique recording operation to fit their particular aesthetic and needs, and hit pay dirt with Mind Cabin studios run by evil genius Adam Garbinski (of Marah). More to the point, they’ll soon be unleashing the gloriously DIY result to the unsuspecting public and adoring fans! In addition to studio recordings the band will release live recordings from events around Philly, Brooklyn and New Brunswick.
The band dedicated much of last year to writing, arranging, recording, and mixing new material. “We wanted to find someone with a homegrown / punk vibe we used to cultivate with our own 8 track home recordings, but you know…better”, according to lead songwriter Paddy McHugh. “After spending a long while critically listening to tons of the great underground sounds around Philly, we finally connected with Adam. He got what we were going for right away.” Mind Cabin has worked with a wide range of talent from around the "City Of Brotherly Love" such as The Whips, The Tough Shits, Los Gueys, and Shed.
The new single "I been working" is set to be included in a full-length release by The Deadeyes later this year. This is a “work song” in the traditional folk music sense, a song that is about work and also has a driving rhythm and melody designed to help keep somebody doing physical work. McHugh incorporates a wide array of allusions in the music and lyrics, such as deliberate references to “Keep On Pushing” by The Impressions ,“Big Boss Man” by Jimmy Reed, the Kinks’ “Harry Rag” and Van Morrison’s “I’ve Been Working”. The song also includes relevant cultural and historical references such as Sisyphus, Mansa Musa’s legendary travels to Timbuktu, vacationing in Babylon. “I’ve been trying to put together a solid work song for a few years, and something clicked when I saw a connection between John Henry and Sisyphus as being sort of representing something similar. I was really happy with how this pulled together a ton of influences, ‘cuz just about everybody has got to work, since forever.”
Come out on Wednesday, March 11th to hear the band debut their new single at the Khyber.
